Driver Killed, Passenger Critically Hurt in Pierce County Rollover Crash

Pierce County, WA (May 25, 2025) — A fatal rollover crash on Orville Road East near Electron in rural Pierce County claimed the life of one man and left another seriously injured Saturday night.

According to Pierce County officials, the crash happened around 9:04 p.m. at the intersection with Griggs Road East near Lake Kapowsin. Authorities said a truck carrying two men and a puppy overturned for reasons still under investigation.

First responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene. The passenger, believed to be a man in his 40s or 50s, suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital in grave condition.

Officials reported that neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Emergency crews also rescued a puppy from the vehicle and transported the injured animal to a veterinary clinic for treatment. The extent of the puppy’s injuries has not been released.

Authorities closed the roadway in both directions while investigators examined the scene. The cause of the rollover crash remains under investigation.
