Teen Motorcyclist Arrested for Suspected DUI After Graduation-Day Crash in Bakersfield
Bakersfield, CA (May 30, 2025) — An 18-year-old passenger was injured in a motorcycle crash on Panorama Drive in Bakersfield.
The collision occurred around 2:37 p.m. near Panorama Drive and Union Avenue. Investigators said the motorcycle was traveling south when the driver lost control and struck a guardrail.
Reports say that an 18-year-old motorcyclist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a crash left his passenger injured just hours before their high school graduation.
The impact threw the 18-year-old passenger from the motorcycle and down an embankment. Emergency responders treated the passenger for moderate, non-life-threatening injuries and reported that the teen was in stable condition.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was later arrested on alleged DUI charges before being booked into the Kern County Jail. Authorities have not released his identity.
Police said both speed and suspected impairment contributed to the crash. Graduation caps, gowns, and cords were found scattered near the scene, highlighting the tragic timing of the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
