Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Powers Boulevard in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (August 7, 2026)— A woman died after a vehicle struck her early Friday morning in a crash on Powers Boulevard and Palmer Park Boulevard, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

First responders arrived at the intersection around 5 a.m. following reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision.

Police said a vehicle traveling north on North Powers Boulevard struck the pedestrian at the Palmer Park Boulevard intersection.

Emergency personnel responded, but authorities determined that the woman died as a result of the crash.

Because of the severity of the collision, detectives with the Colorado Springs Police Department Major Crash Team responded to investigate.

Authorities closed all northbound lanes of Powers Boulevard at Palmer Park Boulevard following the crash. Turn lanes from Powers Boulevard were also temporarily shut down.

Eastbound and westbound traffic reopened around 5:30 a.m., and police reopened the roadway completely at approximately 9 a.m.

The Cimarron Hills Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

According to police, preliminary findings indicated that neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be a contributing factor in the collision.

Authorities have not released the woman’s identity or provided additional details about the circumstances leading to the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
