Police Investigate Crash on Rittiman Road in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX (August 14, 2026)— Two people suffered critical injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Rittiman Road early Friday morning after a sedan left the roadway, crashed through a fence, and struck a tree on the city’s northeast side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

The single-vehicle crash happened at approximately 1:45 a.m. in the 5300 block of Rittiman Road.

Police said the sedan jumped a curb, broke through a chain-link fence, and entered H-E-B warehouse property before crashing into a tree.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his 20s unconscious on the ground near the crash scene. A woman, also in her 20s, was found lying across the front seats of the damaged vehicle with her legs trapped beneath the dashboard.

San Antonio firefighters worked to free the woman from the wreckage.

Emergency medical personnel transported both victims to Brooke Army Medical Center in critical condition.

The San Antonio Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Division responded to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision. Officers with SAPD, firefighters with the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS crews all responded to the scene.

Authorities have not released the identities of the injured man and woman. Police also have not said what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway or who was driving at the time of the crash.
