Frightening Hit-and-Run Crash on Riverwalk Park Injures Pedestrian [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (August 27, 2026) — A frightening hit-and-run crash on Riverwalk Park left a woman hurt after an off-road motorcycle struck her while she was walking along the Kern River Trail.

Bakersfield police responded to the trail west of Riverwalk Park around 6:52 p.m. after receiving a report of a hit-and-run involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. The woman suffered minor injuries.

During the investigation, officers located two men riding off-road motorcycles near the South Allen Road undercrossing. Police said the riders attempted to avoid officers, but officers detained them after one motorcycle became disabled in the riverbed.

Police arrested both men for violations related to the incident and impounded both motorcycles.

The Bakersfield Police Department reminded trail users that motorized vehicles are prohibited on the Kern River Trail, except for Class 1 and Class 2 electric bicycles. Officials urged everyone to follow posted rules and use caution around pedestrians and bicyclists.
