Police Investigate Crash on State Route 510 in Thurston County

THURSTON COUNTY, WA (September 13, 2026)— A 19-year-old passenger suffered injuries Friday evening in a two-car crash on State Route 510 at Mullen Road Southeast in east Thurston County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The collision occurred at about 6 p.m. while a 22-year-old Rainier man was driving east on SR 510 with the 19-year-old Iowa man as his passenger.

According to troopers, the Rainier driver stopped at Mullen Road Southeast and prepared to make a turn. Investigators said he failed to yield and entered the path of a westbound vehicle driven by a 30-year-old Yelm man.

The two vehicles collided at the intersection.

Emergency responders transported the 19-year-old Iowa passenger to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia for treatment of his injuries. Authorities reported no other injuries in the crash.

Following the collision, the Rainier driver’s vehicle came to rest in a private driveway. The Yelm driver’s vehicle, which was carrying three passengers, stopped on SR 510.

The crash blocked the roadway for approximately 50 minutes while emergency personnel assisted those involved and crews cleared the scene.

The Washington State Patrol continues to handle the investigation into the collision.
