Woman Dies After Hit-and-Run Crash in Downtown Fresno

Fresno, CA (June 28, 2025) — On Thursday night, a woman died after a hit-and-run crash on Ventura Avenue in downtown Fresno, and police are searching for the driver responsible.

The incident happened just before 10 p.m. on Ventura Avenue near F Street. According to investigators, a witness exiting Highway 99 alerted a Fresno police officer after seeing a large, dark-colored SUV strike a woman who was crossing the roadway.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the woman with critical injuries. Emergency responders transported her to Community Regional Medical Center, where she later died.

The SUV driver fled without stopping. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.
