Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash on West Military Drive in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX (August 14, 2026)— A 52-year-old woman and a dog died Friday after a vehicle struck them in a crash on West Military Drive, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Officers responded to the collision at approximately 11:45 a.m. in the 7400 block of West Military Drive near Marbach Road.

Police said the woman was attempting to cross Marbach Road outside of a marked crosswalk when an eastbound vehicle struck both her and the dog.

Emergency responders found the woman with life-threatening injuries and transported her to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, she later died from her injuries.

The dog also suffered severe injuries in the collision. Police said officers euthanized the animal at the scene because of the extent of its injuries.

Authorities identified the driver only as a man in his 60s. Police have not said whether he suffered any injuries in the crash.

San Antonio police told KSAT that the driver was not facing charges at the time of the report.

Investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
