1 Dead in Houston Auto Accident on West Sam Houston Parkway

HOUSTON, TX (August 27, 2026) – Late Tuesday night, a driver died in a horrific SUV vs US Postal Service Truck crash on West Sam Houston Parkway.

The incident occurred at about 10:10 p.m. on West Sam Houston Parkway North near Westheimer in West Houston.

According to Harris County Precinct 5, an SUV crashed into the rear of a USPS 18-wheeler, killing the SUV driver.

The SUV driver was ejected and pronounced dead. Other passengers inside the SUV survived, though their conditions were not immediately known. The condition of the USPS truck driver was also unknown.

Officials said the SUV was speeding before the collision. The impact sent the SUV over a concrete barrier and caused the USPS truck driver to crash, also damaging the barrier.

The northbound exit to Westheimer remained closed Wednesday morning, forcing drivers to continue to the next exit.

Traffic delays continued as authorities investigated the crash.
