Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Willow Pass Road in Concord

CONCORD, CA (August 13, 2026)— One driver died, and another suffered injuries Wednesday night after a two-vehicles crash on Willow Pass Road at a busy intersection in Concord, according to the Concord Police Department.

Police responded to the crash at approximately 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of Willow Pass Road and Port Chicago Highway, near the Safeway shopping area.

When officers arrived, they found a blue Toyota Prius and a red Chevrolet Cruze that had been involved in the collision.

Emergency personnel pronounced the driver of the Chevrolet Cruze dead at the scene. Authorities did not immediately release the driver’s identity.

The driver of the Toyota Prius suffered injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Concord police described those injuries as non-life-threatening.

Investigators have not yet released additional details about what led to the crash, including the direction each vehicle was traveling or whether speed, impairment, distraction, or another factor may have contributed.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
