Shocking Crash on Tripp Avenue Kills Victoria Rosales and Oscar Hernandez [Odessa, TX]

Two Killed in West Odessa Intersection Crash; Driver Faces DWI Charge

Odessa, TX (May 30, 2025) — On Saturday, Victoria Rosales and Oscar Hernandez lost their lives in a crash on Tripp Avenue after a pickup truck allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign.

According to investigators, a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on Tripp Avenue while a Volkswagen Polo carrying two occupants was heading west on 16th Street. Authorities said the Silverado entered the intersection without stopping and struck the Volkswagen on the driver’s side.

The force of the collision pushed both vehicles off the roadway and into a nearby fence and utility phone box at the southwest corner of the intersection.

The Volkswagen’s occupants, identified as 39-year-old Hernandez and 18-year-old Rosales, both of Mexico, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Silverado driver, 22-year-old Luis Amaro Ornelas Nieto, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa for treatment. Authorities have filed a DWI-related charge, and additional charges may follow pending the results of a blood toxicology test.

The crash remains under investigation.

Sweet Lawyers extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of Oscar Hernandez and Victoria Rosales. We hope they find strength and support during this difficult time as they mourn this tragic loss.
