COLUMBIA, MO (April 12, 2026) – Friday night, a crippling 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 near Mile Marker 172 hurt two teenagers.

The incident happened just after 4:00 p.m. on Interstate 70 near Mile Marker 172.

According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 22-year-old man from Grandview, Missouri, was driving a 2022 Kenworth T680 eastbound on I-70 when he moved into the left lane.

The report states that the trailer struck a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by a 21-year-old woman from Columbia near mile marker 172. The SUV came to rest in the median, while the semi stopped on the right shoulder.

Neither driver was injured. However, two 15-year-old passengers in the Jeep, one from Columbia and one from Fulton, suffered serious injuries. Both were transported by ambulance to University Hospital.
