SANTA BARBARA, CA (February 22, 2026) – Friday afternoon, a crippling bicycle crash on 300 Castillo Street led to injuries.

The incident happened when a truck hit a bicyclist at about 2:42 p.m. on 300 Castillo Street.

A spokesperson for the Santa Barbara Police Department said the driver was not impaired and is cooperating with investigators.

The bicyclist was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.

Police closed Castillo Street between Montecito Street and Highway 101 during the investigation because of the severity of the cyclist’s injuries. The roadway reopened around 6 p.m.
