VALENCIA COUNTY, NM (May 19, 2026) – Wednesday, Julian Lopez was arrested in a crippling bicycle crash on El Cerro Loop Road and Winchester Lane.

The incident happened on El Cerro Loop Road and Winchester Lane.

According to the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found a 32-year-old injured man being treated at the scene. He was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Investigators said Julian Lopez was driving northbound on El Cerro Loop when an SUV reportedly swerved into his lane, causing him to swerve and strike the victim, identified as Cuevas. Authorities said Lopez then left the scene without calling for help.

Reports said Lopez later met with Rachel Siguero and his mother, Crystal Lopez, before they returned to the crash scene. Investigators said Siguero called for help while the Lopezes returned home, and Siguero later gave police a false statement about her involvement.

Authorities charged Julian Lopez with accidents involving death or personal injuries and failure to render aid. He was booked into the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center. Crystal Lopez faces charges including tampering with evidence, conspiracy, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Siguero was also charged with tampering with evidence and conspiracy-related offenses.
