Albuquerque Traffic Crash on Interstate 40 near Unser Boulevard

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (February 25, 2026) – Saturday, a crippling fiery auto accident on Interstate 40 near Unser Boulevard led to road closure.

The incident happened on Interstate 40 eastbound near Unser Boulevard, near Coors.

Officers with the Albuquerque Police Department shut down Interstate 40 eastbound following a crash and vehicle fire near Coors.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to the scene. Drivers were advised to exit I-40 eastbound at Unser.

Police said that after the crash, the vehicle struck a light pole, which fell into the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40.

A wrecker later removed the burned vehicle, and Interstate 40 eastbound reopened at approximately 12:05 p.m.

Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
