Injuries Reported in Eureka Auto Accident on Mitchell Road and Cummings Road

EUREKA, CA (April 28, 2026) – Monday morning, a crippling fiery vehicle crash on Mitchell Road and Cummings Road hurt 2 people.

The incident happened at around 9:10 a.m. on Mitchell Road and Cummings Road.

The California Highway Patrol described the incident as a rollover crash in which the vehicle caught fire.

Initial 911 callers reported a car engulfed in flames with occupants trapped inside, but moments later said the occupants had managed to get out. One caller told dispatchers a woman had major injuries and was bleeding heavily.

The vehicle remained fully on fire as emergency crews arrived. A deputy with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office provided traffic control while fire units responded. The Eureka Police Department reported an estimated arrival time of three minutes for fire crews and five minutes for additional units.

Authorities said both occupants were injured, though their conditions have not been released. The CHP is continuing to investigate.
