SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 2, 2026) – Tuesday afternoon, an off-duty SAPD officer was hospitalized after a crippling funeral procession crash on Highway 281.

The incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on Highway 281 near Loop 1604.

A motorcycle officer was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while participating in a funeral escort, officials said.

The officer was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Their injuries were considered serious but not life-threatening.
