Passenger Hurt in Crippling Hit-and-Run Crash near Broadway

Injuries Reported in Boulder Pedestrian Accident near Broadway and 17th Street

BOULDER, CO (March 8, 2026) – Early Friday morning, a 21-year-old scooter passenger was hurt in a crippling hit-and-run crash near Broadway.

The incident happened at about 2:20 a.m. near Broadway and 17th Street.

Boulder police said two young men were riding a Lime scooter on the sidewalk when the passenger lost his balance and fell. The 21-year-old stumbled into Broadway and was struck by a Jeep, according to the 22-year-old scooter driver.

The driver told investigators the Jeep slowed after the impact but continued south on Broadway.

Police said the 21-year-old suffered serious injuries and was reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators later identified the Jeep using license plate reader technology. Police said the vehicle is registered to a Boulder address, but officers had not located the Jeep or its owner. The vehicle has Colorado plates and a rear window sticker reading “Raise hell and hug trees,” authorities said.

The scooter driver was cited for DUI.
