BERKELEY, CA (April 19, 2026) – Last April 7, a crippling hit-and-run crash on Adeline Street and Harmon Street led to the arrest of a 41-year-old man.

The incident happened at about 8:10 p.m. on Adeline Street and Harmon Street.

Police in Berkeley said a 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that happened on April 7. Authorities said the pedestrian was carried on the hood of the vehicle for about 125 feet before falling onto the roadway.

According to the Berkeley Police Department, the 28-year-old man was crossing Adeline Street at Harmon Street in a marked crosswalk around 8:10 p.m. when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. He suffered significant head and body injuries, while the driver continued without stopping.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect vehicle as a black 2014 Toyota Camry registered to the alleged driver, whose name has not been released. Police said footage from the suspect’s apartment parking garage showed the vehicle returning shortly after the crash.

The suspect was taken into custody on Wednesday on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. The vehicle believed to be involved has not been recovered.

Authorities described the car as a black Toyota Camry with California license plate 8GDE554 and a noticeable strip of tape on the passenger side near the rear bumper seam. Anyone with information is asked to contact Berkeley police at 510-981-5900.
