COLUMBIA, MO (August 24, 2025) – Saturday night, a woman suffered injuries in a crippling multi-vehicle crash on S Providence Road.

The incident happened at about 10:45 p.m. on the southbound Providence Road.

Police said three vehicles were involved in a crash near South Providence Road and East Nifong Boulevard.

A woman driving east on Nifong struck a transformer pole and another vehicle before her car flipped. She was hospitalized and later found behind the Kohl’s on Green Meadows Road after briefly fleeing the scene.

Witnesses said she appeared mentally and physically distressed, bleeding from the head, and was overheard saying she wanted to “go to the Kohl’s.”

The second driver, a man suspected of intoxication, hit another female driver, pushing her car into a ditch. His vehicle later caught fire. The third vehicle had minor damage.

Tow trucks cleared the scene by 12:20 p.m. Other drivers reported pain but were not hospitalized. The investigation is ongoing.
