Injuries Reported in Eureka Pedestrian Accident on 1800 Broadway

EUREKA, CA (July 23, 2026) – Tuesday night, a 41-year-old man sustained injuries in a crippling pedestrian crash on 1800 Broadway.

The incident happened at around 10:56 p.m. on 1800 block of Broadway.

A 41-year-old man suffered major injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Broadway in Eureka, according to the Eureka Police Department.

Police said the pedestrian had been involved in an altercation with another man on Fairfield and called the Eureka Police Dispatch Center. While speaking with a dispatcher, the man said he was walking into the roadway despite being instructed not to do so.

Investigators said the pedestrian crossed westbound over Broadway south of the West Wabash Avenue intersection while northbound and southbound traffic had a green light. He was struck by a southbound vehicle while crossing the right-hand lane.

The man was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.

Police said the driver was not impaired, and DUI was ruled out as a factor in the collision. Authorities are still determining whether alcohol or impairment played a role for the pedestrian.
