Injuries Reported in Fresno Pedestrian Accident on Belmont Avenue and Van Ness Avenue

FRESNO, CA (January 7, 2026) – Monday afternoon, a man sustained injuries in a crippling pedestrian crash on Belmont Avenue and Van Ness Avenue.

The incident happened at about 4:15 p.m. on Belmont Avenue and Van Ness Avenue, south of the Tower District.

Police said the man they spoke with at the scene was taken to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

After reviewing the surveillance video, officers determined that the driver had been traveling northbound on Van Ness when the pedestrian illegally crossed in front of the vehicle.

Police said the driver also bore responsibility and was being sought in connection with a hit-and-run. Officers said the suspect was driving a black sedan and asked anyone with information to contact the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000.

Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
