LAREDO, TX (January 22, 2026) – Tuesday night, a crippling pedestrian crash on Interstate 35 near Exit 4A injured 5 people.

The incident happened at around 8:45 p.m. on Interstate 35 near Exit 4A.

Preliminary reports indicate a deputy was struck while conducting a traffic stop, the Laredo Police Department said.

The Laredo Fire Department said five people were involved. Two deputies were taken to Doctors Hospital’s emergency room. One deputy lost consciousness and, despite no major visible injuries at the scene, was transported in critical condition. The other deputy was walking at the scene.

Authorities closed the Mann Road and San Dario onramps while responding to the incident.
