Injuries Reported in St Louis Auto Accident on Interstate 270 and Lilac Avenue

ST LOUIS, MO (March 24, 2026) – Monday morning, an East St Louis woman died in a crippling single-vehicle crash on Interstate 270 and Lilac Avenue.

The incident happened at 5:35 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 270 and Lilac Avenue.

Authorities said a Chrysler 200 was traveling in the left lane of eastbound I-270 when it went off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail.

The vehicle then continued eastbound, returned to the roadway, and veered off the right side, where it hit a concrete barrier before coming to rest on the right shoulder.

The driver, a 35-year-old woman from East St. Louis, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. A 13-year-old passenger was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

All eastbound lanes of I-270 at Lilac Avenue were closed for an extended time during the investigation and cleanup. Traffic reopened around 10 a.m. Monday, officials said.
