2 People Airlifted after Crippling Vehicle Crash on New Priest Grade [Tuolumne County, CA]

Injuries Reported in Tuolumne County Auto Accident on New Priest Grade

TUOLUMNE COUNTY, CA (April 23, 2026) – Sunday morning, a crippling vehicle crash on New Priest Grade caused two people to be airlifted.



The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. on New Priest Grade.

First responders, including the Tuolumne County Fire Department, were called to a report of a vehicle that had gone over an embankment.

Crews found the vehicle about 200 feet below the roadway. Officials said a low-angle rope rescue system was used to retrieve two patients from the scene.

Both patients were flown to Valley trauma centers for treatment.

Agencies assisting in the rescue included the Groveland Community Services District, CAL FIRE, California Highway Patrol, PHI, CAL STAR, and Caltrans.
