31-Year-Old Cristian Rayas Coronado Cited in Horrific Crash on Interstate 76 [Commerce City, CO]

Commerce City, CO (June 10, 2025) — Troopers arrested a Cristian Rayas Coronado, a Subaru driver, following a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 76 early Monday morning.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the incident began around 4:23 a.m. when a 2015 Subaru traveling eastbound near 88th Avenue suddenly braked to avoid a semi-truck ahead. The driver then lost control, struck a Volvo semi-truck, crossed into the median, and crashed head-on into a concrete barrier. The Subaru spun back into traffic and collided with the semi again before coming to rest facing the wrong direction in the middle lane.

The 31-year-old Subaru driver, Cristian Rayas Coronado, exited the vehicle and left the roadway on foot.

Investigators said several vehicles, including an eastbound 2012 Hyundai Elantra, subsequently sideswiped the disabled Subaru.

The Hyundai’s driver, a 66-year-old woman, sustained critical injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Moreover, emergency crews transported Coronado to a hospital with moderate injuries. Troopers later cited him for careless driving, causing serious bodily injury.

The crashes forced authorities to close I-76 for approximately three hours while crews investigated and cleared the scene.
