Crystal Louise Spores Dead in S Union Avenue Hit-and-Run Crash [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (September 8, 2026) – 34-year-old Crystal Louise Spores of Bakersfield was killed in a S Union Avenue hit-and-run crash Sunday night.

It was past 7 p.m. on September 6 when the deadly crash happened at the 2500 block area.

Responding officers found Spores suffering from severe injuries and she died at the scene.

Moreover, the white Ford pickup truck that was involved in the crash fled the scene before officers arrived.

BPD said Spores was crossing S Union Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when she was struck by the northbound vehicle.

Police later located the vehicle and its driver, 36-year-old Guadalupe Hernandez, at the 3600 block of Cottonwood Road.

Hernandez admitted he was driving the Ford during the collision. Police arrested and booked him on charges including hit-and-run causing death.
