Crystal McCallum and Wayne Swanson Killed in Vehicle Crash on Pacific Coast Highway [Newport Beach, CA]

Newport Beach, CA (May 13, 2022) – On Thursday morning, Crystal McCallum, 34, of Texas; Wayne Swanson Jr., 40, of Newport Coast; and Andrew Chaves, 32, of Arizona, died in a vehicle crash on Pacific Coast Highway.

The deadly collision took place at 12:46 a.m. near Newport Boulevard.

Officers say the victims’ vehicle was eastbound on the highway when it struck a curb in the median. Then, the vehicle slammed into roadwork construction equipment.

Unfortunately, McCallum, Swanson Jr., and Chaves died at the scene.

The paramedics rushed the three roadworkers who were standing nearby when the accident took place. They sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the authorities are investigating if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
