Starbucks Crash on Reynolds Ranch Parkway Injures Customer After Car Plows Into Store

LODI, CA — A customer suffered injuries Wednesday afternoon after a crash on Reynolds Ranch Parkway when a vehicle drove into a Starbucks, according to a city spokesperson.

Crews responded just after 3 p.m. to the Starbucks on Reynolds Ranch Parkway, between East Harney Lane and Rocky Lane. 

Officials said a Honda Civic entered the coffee shop, injuring a patron who was at one point pinned beneath the vehicle.

Lodi police reported that a delivery driver had parked in front of the store and went inside to pick up an order when he mistakenly pressed the accelerator. 

The vehicle jumped the curb and crashed through the glass storefront.

Authorities said people inside the Starbucks helped free the injured customer before firefighters arrived. 

Paramedics transported the customer to a local hospital for treatment. Police also said a teenage girl was struck by furniture during the crash; medics treated her injuries at the scene.

A witness told KCRA 3 that a grandfather and granddaughter had just taken a seat near the front moments before the car slammed into the building, striking the man and pushing him across the store toward the counter.

The storefront sustained major glass damage, though officials said the building remained structurally intact. Panels were installed to cover the broken sections.

Police cited the driver for violations related to the crash. The investigation continues.
