Moses Puga Arrested After Hit-And-Run Crash on Alabama Street in Bellingham
Bellingham, WA (August 22, 2025) – A cyclist sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Alabama Street.
At approximately 10:04 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, first responders arrived at the 800 block of Alabama Street in Bellingham after receiving reports of a car-versus-pedestrian crash.
Witnesses at the scene reported that a pickup truck fled eastbound on Alabama Street immediately after the collision.
According to the Bellingham Police Department (BPD), the truck involved appeared to be a 1990s two-tone Ford pickup with a pinstripe, dark rims, and a hitch-mounted carrier holding a black and red lawn mower.
Officers noted it also carried two red gas cans and a white pole in the truck bed.
Witnesses last saw the vehicle heading south on Orleans Street from Alabama Street.
Police confirmed the truck had struck a bicycle, leaving the cyclist with serious injuries that required emergency medical treatment.
Due to the quality of surveillance footage, authorities could not initially identify the license plate number.
BPD issued a public appeal for information, including any eyewitness accounts or dash cam footage, to help identify the suspect.
Just before 2:00 p.m., officers located the vehicle and arrested the suspected driver.
Authorities identified the driver as 35-year-old Moses Puga. Police booked him into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run involving injury.
Jail records indicated that no bail had been set at the time of booking, pending a preliminary hearing in Whatcom County Superior Court.
