Injuries Reported in Fatal Collision North of Phantom East
Victorville, CA (June 25, 2024) – 61-year-old Cynthia Lorntzen was killed in a DUI crash near the Mojave Riverbed Sunday night.
VPD officers responded at about 7 p.m. to the solo-vehicle collision north of Phantom East and Shay Road.
Troopers said a black Can-Am driven by Francisco Enrique Gonzalez, 40, of Adelanto, was carrying four occupants while traveling northeast along a dirt road.
The vehicle drove onto an embankment and attempted to brake. However, the attempt was unsuccessful and the Can-Am swerved off the dirt roadway, descended a large embankment, and rolled over.
As a result, a 19-year-old female passenger was taken to a trauma center. Another passenger, Cynthia Lorntzen, was declared deceased at the scene.
Troopers determined Enrique Gonzalez was under the influence of alcohol during the collision. She has a prior DUI conviction from 2017 for violating California Vehicle Code 23152(B),
The authorities arrested Gonzalez and booked her at High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto for P.C. 187(A) – Murder.
