Dahir Ortiz Espinoza Arrested in Tragic Crash on [Pueblo, CO]

Pueblo, CO (June 17, 2025) — 25-year-old Dahir Ortiz Espinoza of Pueblo was arrested after a fatal hit-and-run collision on Northern Avenue that claimed the life of a pedestrian early Wednesday morning.

According to the Pueblo Police Department, officers responded around 2:20 a.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The victim died at the scene.

Investigators said the driver fled after the crash, but a witness followed the vehicle and immediately alerted 911. Officers later located the abandoned vehicle in the 100 block of West Northern Avenue and found Dahir Ortiz Espinoza walking nearby.

Police took Espinoza into custody and booked him on suspicion of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, failure to report a fatal crash, reckless driving, and DUI.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity. The Pueblo County Coroner’s Office is expected to make that information public at a later date.

Officials noted that the incident marks Pueblo’s third fatal pedestrian collision and ninth fatal traffic crash of 2026. Espinoza remains in the Pueblo County Jail without bond as the case moves forward.
