Two People Hospitalized After Crash on Red Bird Lane and Hampton Road in Dallas
Dallas, TX (July 8, 2026) – A crash on Red Bird Lane and Hampton Road involving a Dallas police patrol vehicle temporarily closed all northbound lanes of Highway 67 on Wednesday, officials said.
The collision happened between Red Bird Lane and Hampton Road while a Dallas police officer conducted a traffic stop on the highway.
According to the Dallas Police Department, a separate vehicle struck the officer’s patrol car. Aerial footage showed the damaged police vehicle stopped along the highway shoulder.
Emergency responders transported the officer to a nearby hospital for a precautionary evaluation. Police said the officer did not appear to have suffered serious injuries.
Paramedics also took the driver who struck the patrol vehicle to a hospital. Authorities did not immediately release information about the driver’s condition.
“We are grateful our officer does not appear to have suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution,” Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said. “The safety of our officers is always our highest priority, and we appreciate the quick response of first responders and the support of our community.”
The crash caused significant traffic congestion on northbound Highway 67. SigAlert reported that traffic backed up to Wheatland Road, with delays reaching approximately 30 minutes.
Crews cleared the scene, and officials reopened the highway shortly after 7 p.m.
Authorities have not released additional details about what caused the driver to strike the patrol vehicle.
The investigation remains ongoing.
