Driver Daniel Anthony Santos Arrested in DUI Crash on Highway 156 [Monterey, CA]

Monterey, CA (February 26, 2026) – The authorities arrested Daniel Anthony Santos following a DUI crash on Highway 156 Sunday afternoon.

It was almost 5 p.m. when the collision happened east of Cathedral Oaks Road.

Officers said Santos was driving a gray Kia SUV, traveling east on the freeway when he made an unsafe turn. The vehicle then crossed the westbound lane, traveled off the roadway, and slammed onto a tree

Santos’ passengers, a 21-year-old woman, incurred minor injuries, and a 6-year-old boy and a 7-month-old baby girl, were airlifted to a Bay Area hospital with major injuries.

The rescuers also transported Santos to a hospital with minor injuries.

Police arrested him for DUI and booked him into the Monterey County Jail.
