David Althaus Killed in Horrific Collision on West 7th Street [Joplin, MO]

David Althaus Killed in Bicycle Crash on West 7th Street in Jasper County

Joplin, MO (August 13, 2025) – A deadly bicycle crash on West 7th Street late Saturday night claimed the life of 63-year-old David Althaus of Joplin.

According to authorities, the horrific crash happened around 10 p.m., emergency crews responded to reports of a westbound crash on West 7th Street/MO-66, just west of Black Cat Road.

Authorities say a 2010 Honda Accord, driven by a 20-year-old woman from Galena, Kansas, struck Althaus, who was riding his bicycle in the travel lane.

Carl Junction Fire Department, Jasper County deputies, METS ambulance, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol all assisted at the scene. Althaus died from his injuries.
