Deadly Rollover Crash Near Vega Claims Teen’s Life, Injures Driver

Vega, TX (February 20, 2025) – 37-year-old David Flowers of Ocala, FL was hurt Tuesday evening after a tragic rollover crash on I-40 that killed a teen passenger.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the horrific crash happened at about 5:15 p.m. on southbound Interstate 40.

Reports say that the rollover crash near Vega on Tuesday evening resulted in one fatality and left another person injured.

Authorities say that Flowers was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado towing a travel trailer eastbound on I-40. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old girl, also from Ocala, Florida, was a passenger in the vehicle.

For reasons yet to be determined, the pickup and trailer veered off the road into the south ditch. In response, Flowers overcorrected to the left, causing the vehicle and trailer to skid sideways across the eastbound lanes and into the center median, where they overturned. The force of the crash separated the travel trailer from the pickup.

During the rollover, the teenage passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, but she later succumbed to them.

Flowers, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel treated and released him after he was taken to a local hospital.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
