David Swanson of Carson City, NV, Injured in Highway 49 Deadly Crash [Calaveras County, CA]

Calaveras County, CA (December 19, 2025) – David Swanson , 67, of Carson City, NV, was injured in a Highway 49 deadly crash Wednesday evening.

The deadly vehicle crash happened past 6 p.m. on December 17, south of Union Mine Road in San Andreas.

Investigators said Edna Street, 55, of Altaville, was driving a northbound 2019 Nissan Rogue SUV on Highway 49

At the same time, David Swanson, was driving a southbound 2010 Ford F150 pickup truck on the same road.

Officers said Street crossed over into oncoming traffic and Swanson swerved to the right to prevent colliding with the SUV, but the front of the pickup truck crashed into the SUV. 

Street was killed in the collision while Swanson sustained major injuries and was airlifted to a valley trauma center. 

Troopers are still investigating this collision and stated that that alcohol and drugs do not appear as factors in this accident.
