Deadly Crash on Highway 36 Under Investigation [Caldwell County, MO]

Caldwell County, MO (June 7, 2025) — A two-vehicle crash on Highway 36 in Caldwell County left one woman dead and another seriously injured.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 9:30 a.m. about five miles east of Hamilton, just west of Route B. Investigators said an 85-year-old Hamilton woman drove a pickup truck back onto the eastbound lanes from the shoulder when a tractor-trailer struck it from behind.

The impact pushed the pickup off the roadway, where it overturned.

Emergency responders pronounced the pickup driver dead at the scene. A 52-year-old passenger in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment. The truck driver, a 57-year-old man from Newton, Kansas, did not suffer injuries.
