Man Killed in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash Involving Semi-Truck in Long Beach

Long Beach, CA (August 23, 2025) On Wednesday evening, police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash on Oregon Avenue that left a man dead.

According to police, the fatal crash happened in the Wrigley neighborhood after a semi-truck with a loaded trailer struck a man around 8:10 p.m.

Officers responded to the intersection of Oregon Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, where they found the victim critically injured on the sidewalk.

Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Investigators determined that the semi-truck was turning south onto Oregon Avenue from Pacific Coast Highway when the trailer’s rear tires rolled onto the sidewalk, hitting the man, who appeared to have been lying there. The truck driver continued without stopping.

Authorities said speed, impairment, and distracted driving do not appear to be factors. The investigation is ongoing.
