Deadly Motorcycle Crash on Interstate 49 Claims a Life [Lamar, MO]

Lamar, MO (April 27, 2025) – A passenger died in a deadly motorcycle crash on Interstate 49 Friday evening.

According to authorities, the tragic incident happened at around 6 p.m. on southbound I-49, about eight miles north of Lamar.

Reports say that a motorcycle crash, claimed the life of a female passenger and seriously injured the driver.

Authorities say that the rear tire of a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle blew out, causing the bike to overturn and eject both riders.

Emergency crews transported both individuals to a hospital in Joplin, where the 40-year-old female passenger from Nevada later died.

The 44-year-old male driver, also from Nevada, sustained serious injuries.

Authorities reported that the woman wore a helmet, while the man did not. This incident marks the 33rd fatal crash for MSHP Troop D in 2025.
