Deadly Vehicle Crash on Interstate 45 Kills Child [Houston, TX]

Houston, TX (June 20, 2025) On Wednesday afternoon, a small child died and several others suffered injuries after a vehicle crash on Interstate 45.

According to authorities, the fatal accident happened around 4:45 p.m. near the NASA Parkway exit on I-45 southbound.

Reports say that a heavily occupied vehicle crashed on the Gulf Freeway in Webster.

Police reported that nine people, including several children, were inside a Chevrolet sedan when the driver lost control of the vehicle, the vehicle then struck a concrete barrier, prompting a full freeway shutdown for hours.

Emergency crews transported multiple victims to Houston-area hospitals using two Life Flight helicopters. Authorities believe excessive speed may have contributed to the crash and noted that many of the vehicle’s occupants, including children, were not properly restrained.

Investigators are still working to confirm the identities of those involved and await toxicology results. The Webster Police Department continues to collaborate with the Harris County District Attorney’s Vehicular Crimes Division to determine if charges will be filed.

The child’s name has not been released, as police are still verifying relationships among the occupants.
