Delta County Plane Crash Injures John England and Cleve Williams [Delta County, CO]

Delta County, CO (November 7, 2025) — 44-year-old John England of Montrose and 57-year-old Cleve Williams of Carbondale were hurt and hospitalized on Sunday afternoon after a plane crash in Delta County.

According to the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, that a small bush plane crashed in northern Delta County due to reported mechanical issues.

Reports say that the single-engine yellow aircraft went down roughly 100 yards from a nearby home, coming to rest nose-first against a ravine wall. A flight instructor and a student pilot were on board at the time of the incident.

One man managed to escape the wreckage, while nearby residents helped the second occupant out before emergency crews arrived. Authorities identified the injured men as England and Williams. Both were taken to Delta Health Hospital for treatment.

Deputies learned that the plane had taken off from Blake Field in Delta but soon encountered mechanical trouble. The pilots attempted an emergency landing in North Delta, but the plane lost power and crashed into the ravine.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the crash. Updates on the men’s conditions have not yet been released.

Emergency responders from the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Delta Police Department, Delta Volunteer Fire Department, and Delta County Ambulance District all assisted at the scene.
