Demond Hunter Arrested in Frightening Crash on Florin Road [Elk Grove, CA]

Elk Grove, CA (May 27, 2025) — Police arrested 35-year-old Demond Hunter following a hit-and-run crash that left a 47-year-old Elk Grove man with life-threatening injuries Friday night.

The Elk Grove Police Department said officers responded around 8:43 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck on Elk Grove Florin Road near Heritage Hill Drive. Bystanders found the victim lying in the northbound lanes of the roadway.

Emergency crews transported the man to a nearby hospital, where doctors later determined he was not expected to survive his injuries.

Officers later located Hunter and the damaged minivan north of Elk Grove. Investigators said the hood damage matched evidence from the collision.

According to police, the victim had been walking toward a sidewalk near an apartment complex on Elk Grove Florin Road when Hunter allegedly struck him while exiting a driveway.

Hunter was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on felony hit-and-run and suspected DUI charges. Authorities said additional charges could follow depending on the victim’s condition.
