2 Dead in Siskiyou Auto Accident on Interstate 5 and North Mount Shasta Boulevard

SISKIYOU COUNTY, CA (October 14, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, Denise Burke suffered injuries in a horrific 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 5.

The crash occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on Interstate 5 in the area of North Mount Shasta Boulevard in Mount Shasta.

According to reports, as a 2016 Ford Escape SUV headed north on Interstate 5, it drove across the dirt center median and crashed head-on with a Ford recreational vehicle that was driving south on the freeway.

As a result, the driver of the SUV and RV both succumbed to injuries at the scene.

Meanwhile, 66-year-old Burke of Sisters, Oregon, was a passenger in the RV and she sustained major injuries.

Also, the incident shut down southbound I-5 in the area for several hours. Moreover, the freeway did not reopen until just after 11 p.m.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
