Pedestrian Destiny Quintanilla Killed in Highway 287 Collision [Rhome, TX]

Rhome, TX (May 24, 2025) – 19-year-old Destiny Quintanilla from Grand Prairie was killed in a Highway 287 collision Thursday night.

It was about 9:30 p.m. when the deadly traffic crash happened near Ramhorn Hill Road.

According to the investigators, 58-year-old Alan Schutt of Boyd was traveling north when he struck two cars that were parked on the shoulder.

Schutt also struck Quintanilla who was standing near one of the cars, then drove across the center median and struck a southbound SUV.

Immediately, the rescuers rushed Quintanilla to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Moreover, a 20-year-old driver in one of the parked vehicles, was also from Grand Prairie, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the crash scene before being released.

The SUV driver was not injured in the collision.

Moreover, those who witnessed the collision said Schutt tried to run away from the crash scene. Luckily, the people caught him and held him until the authorities arrived.

Officers arrested Schutt in suspicion of DUI and booked him in the Wise County jail.

He faces charges for intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid involving death.
