IMPERIAL, CA (April 29, 2026) – Sunday morning, a devastating 2-vehicle crash on State Route 111 near Worthington Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 5:00 a.m. on State Route 111 near Worthington Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a southbound Honda Civic traveling at an extremely high rate of speed struck a Toyota Corolla that was stopped at the traffic light.

Moreover, officers confirmed that the 53-year-old man driving the Toyota died in the crash. Then, responders airlifted the 22-year-old male driver of the Honda to Desert Regional Medical Center with major injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
