COKE COUNTY, TX (July 19, 2026) – Friday morning, a person died in a devastating 2-vehicle crash on US Highway 277 near Bronte.

The incident involving a pickup and a semi-truck happened at about 12:40 p.m. on US Highway 277, seven miles north of Bronte.

One person was killed in a pickup truck crash, authorities said.

The sole occupant of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released.

The response included the Coke County Sheriff’s Office, West Coke County EMS, the Bronte Volunteer Fire Department, the Robert Lee Volunteer Fire Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Department of Transportation.

Authorities said no additional information is being released at this time out of respect for the victim’s family.
