LEE ACRES, NM (December 25, 2025) – Wednesday, a devastating auto accident near US Highway 64 and County Road 5500 killed 1 person.

The incident involving a commercial vehicle and a passenger vehicle happened near US Highway 64 and County Road 5500 near McGee Park.

One person died, and another was injured following a crash along U.S. Highway 64/County Road 5500, authorities said.

Eastbound traffic was shut down, while westbound traffic was reduced to one lane as New Mexico State Police investigated. As of 6:40 p.m., the roadway had reopened and traffic was flowing normally.
