2 Dead and 3 People Injured in Richmond Heights Traffic Crash on Interstate 70 and Interstate 64

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, MO (January 27, 2026) – Friday afternoon, a devastating auto accident on Interstate 170 and Interstate 64 killed 2 people.

The incident happened at about 2:30 p.m. on the southbound Interstate 170 and eastbound Interstate 64.

A wrong-way vehicle on the I-170 ramp struck a St. Louis police cruiser as it merged onto I-64, causing a severe crash that left two suspects dead and a third injured, along with two SLMPD officers hospitalized with serious injuries.

Debris from the collision flew off the flyover. The cause of the pursuit and the identities of the suspects have not been released.

Both injured officers are reported to be in good spirits as they begin recovery, and the St. Louis County Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation.
