Buggy Driver Killed in Devastating Auto Accident on Route M near Middle Grove [Randolph County, MO]

1 Dead and 2 Injured in Randolph County Traffic Crash on Route M near Middle Drive

RANDOLPH COUNTY, MO (March 24, 2026) – Sunday afternoon, a buggy driver died in a devastating auto accident on Route M near Middle Grove.

The incident happened when a Ford Escape traveled west on Route M, three miles west of Middle Grove.

Authorities said a Ford struck the rear of a horse-drawn buggy carrying two people from Madison, Missouri, at about 4:29 p.m.

The 26-year-old buggy driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A 20-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital for treatment.

The 75-year-old driver of the Ford, from Moberly, sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Moberly Regional Hospital.

Officials said the Ford driver was wearing a seatbelt, while the buggy occupants were not required to use safety devices.
